Meet the Intern is a series of profiles on our incredible interns at the Media-Makers Fellowship - students who help guide and mentor other student creators through the fellowship.

“It’s tough” she says when I ask what it means to be a teenager in India today. Currently in her last teen year, Meenakshi explains that she finds it difficult to trust people with her emotions. She adds that it can be challenging for a teenager to navigate through generation gaps as they try to express themselves.
I realise that I’ve started with a rather heavy question. Hoping to make things lighter, I ask her what it means to be an intern at the Media-Makers Fellowship.
“Being an intern here is like getting the experience of a workplace,” she says.
From following up with her team to sharing feedback and writing for the zine - there’s no doubt that Meenakshi enjoys her work.
“Troubling the kids” is her favourite part of the job she says, and it’s evident from her messages on the team WhatsApp group.
“Though I tell students I will be haunting them if they don’t reply, they don’t take me seriously,” she says.
Her “haunting” has been helpful because she’s led a team with a 100% timely submission record in the past! It’s evident that Meenakshi cares deeply about her team and her work.
Meenakshi has displayed the work ethic and commitment that would make her Employee
of the Week at any workplace!
