On 22–23 August 2025, from 9:15 AM to 12:00 PM, Budding Minds International School held its Discovery Day in the new block, named Bliss, under the theme “Science in Motion – From Nerves to Newton.” Over 500 student projects in biology, physics, and chemistry filled the halls, with students from all grades, supported by teachers and mentors, guiding visitors through live demonstrations, models, and hands-on exhibits.

In the days leading up to it, there was an internal project day—a rehearsal where students visited one another’s projects, practiced their speeches, and refined their ideas so they would be better prepared for the main event.

As the two mornings unfolded, 6th and 7th grade students spoke of what challenged them : conceiving difficult models, building them, preparing charts, and, most of all, memorizing the speech.

Riyaansh said he practiced his speech “a hundred times, a thousand times,” still worried he’d forget what to say. Harshitha spoke of juggling models and chart creation.

Prithiyanga and Mrithulan described how even coming up with the idea or “game” was hard.

Let’s take a deeper look at the insights shared by others!

Ms. Anita Jai, the Deputy Vice Principal, said a key purpose of the event is to build communication skills and reduce students’ fear of speaking in front of crowds. She noted that including preschoolers and kindergartners provides them with a foundation in these skills early on.

Parents complimented what they saw: Kasi, my dad, said the clarity with which students explained real scientific concepts impressed him; Sundari, my mom, spoke of how the event promotes independence, confidence, and presentation skills.

Meanwhile, students from 6th grade, such as Sasha and Bhavishnii, emphasized that Project Day lets them explore beyond the syllabus and builds their presentation skills.

Some challenges also emerged: popular exhibits got crowded, so visitors couldn’t always absorb everything; later in the mornings, some presentations were wrapping up, equipment became finicky; a few projects felt loosely connected to the main theme.

From my perspective, the event was inspiring : it showed how curiosity, scientific thinking, and creativity come together. Students wrestled with failure, refined their work, and took real ownership of ideas. Younger grades surprised parents with imaginative, simple, but effective projects. If there were improvements in labeling, clearer thematic connections, and pacing so that late visitors don’t miss key exhibits, the experience could have been even stronger.

In the end, Discovery Day at BMIS was more than a science show—it was a celebration of learning, curiosity, and community. Despite minor hiccups, the event left a powerful impression: students transformed into presenters and explorers; parents and teachers saw growth; and science, quite literally, felt alive in motion.
